An abscessed tooth is caused by some kind of infection inside the tooth. It can be an extremely painful condition.

We don't think of this as a dangerous situation, but it is. Ongoing infection can spread up to the brain or down to the lungs. It is hard in this country to imagine having to be hospitalized for a tooth problem but in other countries around the world people actually die from an infected tooth.
Again, if you think you have an abscessed tooth, call right away and we will work you in today. We will take an x-ray and at least get you started on antibiotics. If it is possible, we will treat the infection with a dental procedure and restore the tooth to a healthy state.
